‘A huge thank you to Heather for tutoring our son for the 11+. She was always calm and patient and was particularly good at easing his nerves and anxiety around the test, which he took and passed. Not only did Heather help with the content and technique but she helped build his confidence and self belief.
Our daughter also loves her sessions with Heather and always looks forward to them. Heathers warmth and energy instil a real enthusiasm for the activities covered and my daughter is going from strength to strength in her writing and English language skills’

‘Just to say a huge thank you to Heather for all her work with our son. Her patience, enthusiasm and calm but persistent manner really helped our son who is dyslexic throughout his GCSE English exams. We are thrilled that he went from a grade 3 to a grade 5 in his final exam and we know that Heather played a huge role in making this happen. Thank you so much Heather.’
Louisa 2026‘My son came to Heather with poor predicted GCSE grades and really struggled with English. Her patience, support and exam techniques made such a difference, helping him gain confidence and pass his GCSE English. He genuinely enjoyed his Saturday mornings with Heather and we couldn’t be more grateful for all her help and support.’
Chantelle 2026‘Heather helped my son through his 11+ and through the SATs, both with great results. She is an intuitive teacher who is able to pick up on which areas of his knowledge needed to be worked on at different times throughout his preparation. Her friendly, relaxed and positive attitude made my son never feel like he was studying or complain about having to do an extra lesson after school and he genuinely had fun learning with Heather. Overall, a lovely teacher!

Heather has been an excellent English tutor for both of my teenagers through their GCSE’s. Two very different teenage abilities, not to mention personalities! My daughter wanted to improve her grades for English GCSE’s and was guided and nurtured by Heather on how to turn her good marks into great marks through specific targeted feedback on essays and approaches to answering the questions. She achieved a 9 for her English GCSE’s. My son’s grades have made a dramatic improvement since he started his sessions with Heather and he is on track for great GCSE results. Her enthusiasm, support and creative style of tutoring has also allowed him to find a new love for a subject he “hated” a year ago. He is now considering doing English at A level, all thanks to her time and effort building his ability, interest and confidence in the subject.

At one point my primary school aged daughter was fed up with writing. She did not enjoy it and was starting to fall behind. Along came Heather who worked some kind of magic. Composition and handwriting came along leaps and bounds. Best thing though is the love of writing that will carry my daughter through the rest of her life.

Our daughter was doing well overall in her GCSEs but was struggling with English. Heather not only identified her weak points and helped her to understand what was expected of her, but also built up her confidence with her supportive and calm teaching style. Our daughter secured an 8 in each of her English papers and overall scored highly enough in her GCSEs to be admitted to the selective sixth-form school of her choice. I would highly recommend Heather as a tutor without hesitation.”
John 2023Heather is very likeable and easy to get on with. She is very patient, supportive, calm and relaxed with students. I would recommend her to anyone.

If you are looking for an outstanding English Tutor you are reading the right profile! We can not recommend Heather enough. She is a truly lovely person, engaging, fun and enthusiastic with a highly supportive can do attitude. Our daughter was in bottom set English throughout secondary school and had been predicted to fail her GCSE (Lit & Lang). At the request of our daughter for extra help, we employed Heather and were initially just hopeful of a passing grade, but as the lessons went along, it became clear Heather had really engaged our daughter – when we heard her singing Macbeth quotes out of lesson time, that was priceless! (Don’t tell her I said that..)
The results speak for themselves! From a predicted fail to a 6 (B+/A-) in English Literature and 4 (C) in English Language (our daughter is dyslexic, so this too is an amazing result in Language) was an exceptional for both of them! On the day of the GCSE results, before calling anyone else, we called as Heather to let her know! Thank you so much Heather!
